The Physiology of Learning

July 8 | 11:30 a.m. CT | Zoom

This talk explores how different levels of brain function affect learning —from survival to executive thinking – and why it’s crucial for facilitators to tune into what’s happening outside the classroom before pushing their agenda. I’ll share how I’ve used this empathetic, brain-based approach—from a safety conference to Nike’s leadership training—where it not only resonated, but earned the highest ratings of the entire two-week program. Although this is my learning niche, you have your own – we will end with how to storytell what makes you unique in L&D!

Presenter: Lauren Warren
Nike, Foundational Expectations Lead Process Manager, NA Geo

Lauren spent 13 years in the L&D field, progressing from instructional designer to leading a global team, earning certifications, and receiving awards from Training Magazine and Chief Learning Officer Magazine. Lauren firmly believes that learning is one of the biggest joys of being human! On a personal mission to hone the transferrable skills L&D offers, Lauren has worked in social and labor advocacy at Nike for the last year (50% of which scope directly applies to Memphis!). Lauren remains active in the L&D community locally and mentors global talent weekly through L&D Shapers.
