The Life of a Consultant:  Glamor, Panic, and Everything in Between

With 30 years of consulting experience with clients across the country and from a broad range of businesses and organizations, Sheila Bentley of Bentley Consulting, is familiar with the ups and downs of a consulting career.  She will share how to start your own consulting business, how to carve out a niche, how to stay on the cutting edge, how to price your services, and other strategies for maintaining a successful business.

 

  • Sheila C. Bentley, Ph.D., combines thirty years of communication consulting experience with a quick sense of humor to produce an informative, practical, and entertaining learning session. 

  • She has clients nationwide, and she has also conducted training for international audiences. Her clients include Johnson & Johnson, The New York Times, the U.S. Army, IBM, Dell Computers, Nike, FedEx, The Disney Store, International Paper, Methodist Hospitals, Honeywell, Smith & Nephew, Wright Medical, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, the U.S. Border Patrol, the IRS, and numerous other government agencies. She has served as adjunct faculty at The University of Memphis and Arizona State University in the Colleges of Education.  Her education clients include the Tennessee Department of Education, Vanderbilt University, the University of Memphis, Memphis City Schools, Shelby County Schools, Metro Nashville Schools, Knox County Schools, Jackson-Madison County Schools, and others in Tennessee. 

  • She has trained thousands of participants annually to be more effective leaders and communicators.  She is a past President of the International Listening Association and of the Memphis chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.  She currently serves on the Collierville Environmental Commission and on the Collierville Literacy Council Board and is a past president of Leadership Collierville.
