For the Love of Memphis:
Hear how City Leadership is Recruiting Millennials back to the Bluff City
What’s not to love about Memphis? Great food? (check.) Great music? (check.) Great cost of living? (check.) But, does the City of Grit and Grind boast enough to attract and retain the next generation of leaders?
By 2020, millennials will make up 50 percent of the workforce. Yes, that’s right, 50 percent. And, by 2025, they are projected to make up 75 percent of all U.S. employees. City Leadership recognizes this and has curated three campaigns: Choose901, Teach901, and Serve901, to recruit and retain young professionals in Memphis.
Join us for a lunch and learn session as we hear from City Leadership’s staff about how they are changing the conversation about Memphis and recruiting millennials to the Bluff City. They’ll discuss how they have retooled traditional recruitment strategies to focus on relationship building, digital communications and how they started and run the Choose901 website to attract millennials.
Travis Tinnin
Travis Tinnin is the Jobs Coordinator for City Leadership. He is responsible for funneling economic and vocational opportunities to the organization’s Choosee901, Serve901 and Alumni901 campaigns. He believes that, “our city thrives on the work people do, and people are able to thrive by creating meaningful work.”
Joi Taylor
Joi Taylor joined City Leadership in May of 2017 to lead our Choose901 Alumni Program, an initiative to engage alumni of select Memphis schools and inform them and connect them to economic and training opportunities in Memphis. Memphis has incredibly talented young people and the reality is that, if we’re not working just as hard as other cities to recruit them and set them up for success, then they take their talents elsewhere and our city suffers. Joi was hired to forge and maintain the connections that let young Memphians know that they are valued. In fact, her personal story is an example of why this work is important to us.
